EMSB Chorale Auditions for the 2022-23 (43rd) Season

Share your passion for music-making with an award-winning choir!

Students from Grade 3 to Sec. IV who love to sing are invited to audition for the English Montreal School Board Chorale, now its 43rd season. Rehearsals start Saturday, September 7 and take place in Royal Vale School Auditorium, 5851 Somerled Ave. (use Draper St. auditorium entrance)

Exceptional musical training and opportunities to develop your singing voice, enhance language and auditory skills, memory, discipline and self-confidence.  Perform the best classical, contemporary and multicultural choral literature  Work with professional musicians and perform in Montreal’s top concert venues. Participate in music camps and tours. Make new friends who share a love of music!

The EMSB Chorale is a special project of the Educational Services Department. The chorale offers students the opportunity to acquire vocal and musical training, to perform a wide variety of music and to gain professional concert experience. This is the first audition call. Students will also be able to audition in late August and in September. 

Entrance criteria: Students must be able to match pitches easily (have a good ear), show vocal potential, be motivated and willing to commit to a regular rehearsal schedule. Previous experience in a choir and/or playing a musical instrument as well as music-reading skills are helpful but not necessary to be accepted in the choir. Students do not need to prepare anything for the audition which consists of simple vocal and aural exercises.
