FRENCH PROGRAMS

Our French educational programming aims to enable students to succeed in the most advanced ministerial program they can achieve, either the Français langue second programme de base et enrichi. This level of achievement is intended to identify students as bilingual.

French as a Second Language courses at Rosemount encourage students to develop language skills studied in elementary school beyond oral communication.

During their first two years of high school, students continue to develop their skills by reading, listening to, and writing various genres of texts, including descriptive, explanatory, and narrative. Grammatical notions and vocabulary are integrated into each unit of the French workbooks and are structured around a specific theme.

Students are exposed to and explore Quebec's culture through school and classroom activities.

French Programs
Français, programme enrichi

The enriched program is aimed to meet the level of Français, langue d’enseignement program. Students who have followed the immersion or bilingual program in elementary school as well as those who already have some fluency in French can register for this program.

The student enrolled in this program will attain a degree of proficiency in French that reaches bilingualism. The goal of the program is to offer a deep understanding of French language, French culture and the mastery of the written components. To achieve this objective, students will experience reading and studying many literary works coming from la Francophonie (Québec, France, ...) as it is done in Français, langue d'enseignement.

This enriched program prepares students to continue their studies in French or to practice their profession in a Francophone environment.

Français, programme de base

The French as core program in secondary schools aims for a functional knowledge of the French language. The ability to interact in French, both orally and in writing with different people, friends, peers and businesses.

The core program is not limited to the immediate needs of the student but aims to take it further by preparing them for professional life in a Francophone environment.

Français, langue d'enseignement

This program is identical to the one taught in the Francophone sector. Priorities are the mastery of oral and written language and the understanding of the cultures conveyed to better situate themselves in the linguistic and cultural diversity of the contemporary world.

Students will be invited to discover diverse, high-quality literary works from different eras, genres and styles while connecting past, present, local and international texts to broaden their cultural knowledge, thus perfecting their intertextual aptitude.

This program, recognized by MEQ is also available in French schools.
