Montreal - Wednesday, September 1, 2021

With Quebec in the midst of a fourth wave of the ongoing pandemic, experts from the CIUSS de l'Est-de-l'Île-de-Montréal spoke with staff at Laurier Macdonald High School  in St. Léonard on August 26 to help them navigate the waters of addressing COVID-19 with their students.

On hand to address the staff were:

  • Ms. Caroline St-Denis (Director of the CIUSSS de l'Est-de-I'ile de Montréal’s vaccination campaign)
  • Dr Xavier Marchand-Sénécal (Specialist in Infectious Diseases)
  • Ms. Carol Bottger (Santé Publique)

After receiving an update on the current COVID-19 situation in Montreal, the three experts spoke about  the availability of vaccines, their safety, how to address vaccine hesitancy, as well as any other questions related to the virus and pandemic.

“The pandemic is constantly evolving, and I was grateful that these three experts were able to join us and address the current situation in Montreal,” said Cristina Celzi, Principal of Laurier Macdonald. “It is our responsibility as educators to have the most up to date information possible for our students.”

Once students return to classes next week, Santé Publique will be visiting schools across Montreal to further address any questions with students directly.

In addition, on September 9, the CIUSS de l'Est-de-l'Île-de-Montréal plans to return to Laurier Macdonald for a second vaccination clinic, a follow up to their successful one in June.
