Lester B. Pearson High School stresses the development of the whole person. This includes the moral, intellectual, physical, emotional, aesthetic, social and cultural development of the individual. We aim to produce a bilingual, socially-conscious graduate aware of civic duties and responsibilities. Our students will be prepared either to enter the workplace or continue their studies in the various paths open to them. Some may choose to follow professional programs offered in our network of high schools or private institutions; others will qualify for CEGEP career programs or CEGEP pre-university courses. Our ultimate goal is to prepare each student to make a significant contribution to society through his/her chosen path.
Lester B. Pearson High School offers a variety of programs to meet the individual needs of its student population. Through special education courses, regular academic programs, or enriched courses, our students are educated, socialized and qualified to enter the work force or continue their studies. Every student's exit profile should include a mastery of the basic skills: reading, writing, speaking, listening, and learning.
Students are also provided with opportunities to develop skills in the information and communication technologies. We endeavour to achieve academic excellence for all and thus prepare our students for their life experience.
A full course of studies is carried by each student in keeping with that studentís academic ability. The academic goal for all students is that they each meet the Ministry of Education's Certification requirements.
The various programs are designed to challenge each student to fulfill his/her potential. Students requiring greater academic assistance and remedial help are directed to the Special Education program which provides small class settings and thus more individual attention.
Students more academically gifted can follow an Honors or Advanced Science Program which accelerates students in Math and Science and allows them to graduate with Physics and Chemistry credits and, in some cases, a Pre-Calculus course.
Regular students with strengths in English, French, Mathematics and Physical Education are encouraged to register for the enriched courses in these areas.
A Multi-Media course is also offered to students at the Secondary V level.
Lester B. Pearson students are expected to be active partners in their own learning. It is their responsibility to participate appropriately in the classroom; to complete required assignments - both written and study; and to seek help from their teachers as well as other sources when they are experiencing academic difficulty.
Lester B. Pearson High School is a school which welcomes students of all religious faiths. Our students are expected to follow the Golden Rule at all times. Students are required to respect themselves and to act responsibly towards all members of the school community. They are also required to show respect for their environment both within the school and in the neighborhood.
Students are expected to dress appropriately within the framework of the dress code as it is described in the Student Agenda Book.
The Student Council Executive, elected by its peers, plays a very active role in our school's life. These students are required to represent the student body and the school in a variety of venues. All candidates for executive positions must meet academic requirements and demonstrate good interpersonal skills. Student Council executives must show leadership in the academic, social, cultural, sports and moral domains.

The parents of our students and the staff of the school have very important roles to play in the educational success of the children.
Parents are informed of their child's academic progress and social development. They share a responsibility with the school staff in monitoring their children's homework.
It is also their responsibility to assist the school in establishing a calm teaching and learning environment for all by supporting the school in resolving any challenges and/or conflicts that may arise as a result of their child's conduct.
In keeping with our goal of producing socially-conscious graduates Lester B. Pearson High School provides an extensive program of events to encourage the students to show generosity and concern for those less fortunate.
The event that makes Lester B. Pearson truly unique is the Terry Fox Walkathon. Students and staff organize a 10 km Walkathon along the streets of Montreal North to keep alive Terry Fox's dream to find a cure for cancer.
The committed participation of the Lester B. Pearson community since 1981 has raised significant amounts of money for this cause. Lester B. Pearson High School is the secondary school which has raised the most money for cancer research in Canada.
The success of Lester B. Pearson High School is the result of the cooperative effort of students, parents, and staff.
In order for the school and the school board to comply with the Education Act article 209.2(1)(2)(3)(4), the school board and school must sign a Management and Educational Success Agreement (M.E.S.A). This must be done annually. This Agreement outlines the commitments made by the school board and the school to achieve their mission of successfully instructing, qualifying and socializing students.

Lester Bowles "Mike" Pearson, PC, OM, CC, OBE
(April 23, 1897 – December 27, 1972) was a Canadian statesman, diplomat and politician who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1957 for organizing the United Nations Emergency Force to resolve the Suez Canal Crisis. He was also the 14th Prime Minister of Canada from April 22, 1963, until April 20, 1968, as the head of two back-to-back minority governments following elections in 1963 and 1965.
